Deepening Indo-US ties
Responding to a question on India at an Aspen Security Forum meeting, he said, "In the 21st century, the bilateral relationship with India is of paramount importance to the UNITED States. Campbell is the White House's Asia coordinator. "It's a fact that I've never seen a bilateral relationship like the United States and India in the last 20 years that is growing so rapidly deeper and stronger," the top White House official said. He said the US needs to use its potential further and build people-to-people contacts while working together on technology and other issues.
Campbell said this on China.
"India will not just be an ally of the US. It aspires to be an independent, powerful country and it will emerge as another big force," Campbell said. We should look at areas where we can work together, be it space, education, climate or technology. We should move in this direction."
"If you look back at the last 20 years and look at the obstacles that have been overcome and the depth of the relationship between our two sides, it is fantastic," he said, asserting that India-US relations have not only been built due to concerns about China. These are based on the critical synergy between our societies."
